Firing up db2 9.5 on Hardy Heron

Please follow this link to my other blog to read this up.

Hardy Heron on XPS 1330

Ubuntu has been a fantasy for me for around 2.5 yrs. But I was always falling short of the hardware to actually leverage the best out of the GUI entities of the OS. Well, this time things were different. I did the same thing as I used to do in India. Went to the Ubuntu ship-it web-page and placed an online order for the latest Ubuntu CD - Hardy Heron. Got it in a week in my mail-box.

I was really impressed by the installer itself. The partitioner recognizes your windows partition and lets you drag a bar and adjust the space to be shared between Vista and Ubuntu. Lovely!. Once I was done with the installation, I used the compiz package to enable the eye-candy. It was just awesome. In terms of the eye-candy I would say Ubuntu is way ahead of Vista.

New Bike

Me and my roomie got ourselves couple of bikes. Each costs $85. Damn expensive. We grew impatient and couldn't wait for some sale to come up. Ironically, we bought it from Target store. The bike's got a lot of mechanisms which I am still yet to figure out. I still love those huge Atlas cycles with the bent handles. Here goes a pic of my new bike.

Settling down

I am still putting myself together in yankee land. Bought a table and chair for $100.  Its pretty cool.

Also cooking is going real great. I have been playing around with Indian delicacies and they all came out pretty well. But ironically I still haven't cooked a single vegetarian dish. The closest I got to Vegetarian dish was by cooking Egg Bhurji. Well, now that I am pretty good at it, I am thinking of considering an alternate profession. Especially in the US were Indians colonize, an Udipi mess, andhra mess or Kerala mess would be an excellent idea.

Hmmmm. . . . I am thinking. . . . .

Blog re-directed

I had been trying since quite a while to direct yanthrikam.net to prabhudc.blogspot.com. Finally I gave up on it while in India itself. Today I just happened to try it again and awesome! It worked.
http://yanthrikam.net is pointing to this blog you are reading (which I doubt anybody is :-) ).
